HP buys Palm

Hardware manufacturer HP has purchased Palm who has been up for sale for a couple of weeks.

The combination of the 2 companies injects even more competition as manufacturers fight it out in the great smart phone sales race.

Palm, like Apple and BlackBerry, developed their own operating system where as HP, like Acer and Toshiba, produced hardware for operating systems like Windows Mobile and Android to run on. To now have a power house to manufacturer devices to run on a tried and tested operating system all under the hood of one company will surely mean the boundaries of smart phone design and functionality are pushed even further.
